IEE and LII: supervision (LII supervises IEE)
IEE and LII are not on level ground: LII leads with the element IEE is weakest at, and presses on it without effort or intent. Supervision has a direction, so LII and IEE live in the same relation differently — one feels watched, the other feels interested. The compatibility is asymmetric.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- The conversation is the good part. The IEE's base Ne brings what people could become; the LII's creative Ne brings what principles could become. One walk yields six plans neither will ever execute, to everyone's satisfaction.
- Every so often the LII converts one of the IEE's enthusiasms into a two-column comparison, and every so often the IEE actually uses it. The retraining decision that stuck came out of exactly this machinery.
- Before dinners, the IEE's creative Fi briefs the LII on who's feuding with whom. Working from the briefing, the LII's role Fi can perform an adequate evening, and the LII knows it.
- They rest the same way, the LII mobilizing Si and the IEE receiving it in the suggestive slot: unforced evenings, no obligatory outings. Tea and two separate books still counts as spending the evening together.
- Nobody pushes anybody in this pair. No raised voices, no on-the-spot demands for compliance, no power plays. Disagreement stays verbal and abstract, the only register both of them find safe.
Where it grinds
- Define what you mean by soon, says the LII's base Ti in the middle of scheduling. The IEE answers with a story about a person. The LII follows up with a taxonomy. Both walk away from the exchange hungry.
- The LII grades the very feature the IEE leads with. That's four ideas and none of them finished, says the creative Ne watching the base Ne. The IEE hears their own engine described as a defect.
- When the IEE talks about who feels what about whom, the LII's role Fi delivers a brief, correct performance, then a generalization. To the IEE, the generalization is just coldness with good posture.
- The chore chart survives about nine days. The LII wants one consistent system; the IEE renegotiates it per case, per person, per mood. So the LII rebuilds the chart, and the IEE decorates it.
- The closer they get, the more of the IEE's talk ends up in the LII's files. Eventually the IEE starts editing themselves before speaking — the one thing an IEE was never built to do.
