§1 How the systems differ

MBTI describes you with four letters and a preference order behind them. Socionics describes you with eight positions: the same eight information elements are in every type, and the position an element sits in decides how it behaves in you — native, performed, sore, or wanted from somebody else. The two systems ask different questions, so they do not convert by spelling.

For introverts the last letter flips: socionics INTj sits nearest MBTI INTP, and INTJ converts to INTp first. That flip is disputed, so every equivalence here carries ≈ and an asterisk, not an equals sign. The marking scheme sets out the notation in full.

There is a second split inside socionics itself. Classical Model A and Gulenko’s Model G read the same eight elements in a different order, and every result on this site is scored under both.
