INFP in socionics: EII, IEI or IEE?
Who are you easy with?
You're an INFP. MBTI told you who you are. It never told you who you fit with. In socionics, INFP usually comes out as one of three types: EII, IEI or IEE. Each is easiest with a different person — an LSE, an SLE and an SLI.
§1 Where INFPs usually land
Most INFPs land on EII, led by an inner moral compass. IEI fits when dreamy drift dominates, and IEE fits when sociable possibility-hunting does.
§2 How to tell them apart
At a party where you know one person, do you end up talking with strangers you never planned to meet?
Yes points to IEE, the only extravert among the three. New rooms fill an IEE up, and the interest in each new person is real while it lasts. If instead one long conversation is the good part of the evening, and a run of short ones leaves you flat, that points to EII or IEI. The question settles nothing between those two. It does take a third of the set away, and it is the cleanest of the three, which is why it is worth doing first.
When someone gets loud and wants your answer right now, does the rest of your day go with it?
Of the two introverts, yes points to EII. Direct pressure is where an EII is weakest: they give way on the spot, then spend two days on an exchange nobody else remembers. An IEI meets that scene the other way around. Someone who sets the time and carries them to it arrives as a favor, and without that push a pleasant year passes with nothing in it. An IEE reads much like an EII here, which is why the party question comes first.
Asked for the numbers and the method, do you feel put on the spot in a language that isn't yours?
Yes points to IEI. An IEI knows the answer and comes apart when told to show their work; being graded on method feels like being told the knowledge doesn't count. EII and IEE go the other way. A named method, a tool that works, and a straight answer about cost all arrive as help rather than condescension, and both will remember who supplied them. So this question separates IEI from the other two.
§3 Why the letters don't just convert
The mechanical rule you'll see elsewhere — keep the letters, flip j/p for introverts — maps INFP to EII (socionics INFj). It assumes the two systems measure the same four dichotomies the same way. They don't quite: socionics builds its types from eight function positions, MBTI from four letter preferences, and the correspondence between them is genuinely contested — which is why every ≈MBTI equivalence on this site carries an asterisk (method §1).
The conversion test treats your MBTI as evidence rather than an answer: INFP opens the candidate set above, and about twenty targeted questions decide between the candidates.
Your four letters don't translate one-to-one — introverts in particular often land somewhere unexpected, and the two scoring schools don't always agree. That's why we test instead of assuming. The question people ask most is why is my socionics type different from my MBTI type, and the answer is that the two systems are counting different things.
§4 Your dual, under each candidate
Socionics answers compatibility one pair at a time, and the strongest pair it has is duality: the type whose strong functions cover your weak ones, the closest thing socionics has to a soulmate. Each of your three candidates has a different one.
EII's dual is LSE, who runs the practical side of a shared life without being asked and without fuss.
IEI's dual is SLE, who supplies the push that turns a long-held picture into something with a date on it.
IEE's dual is SLI, who keeps daily life comfortable in a way an IEE is grateful for and never arranges alone.

What is the INFP socionics type?
INFP has no single socionics type. Three socionics types fit it well enough that the test checks all three. EII carries the largest starting weight, IEI is close behind, and IEE is a real minority reading. What separates them is concrete — direct pressure, being asked for the numbers, and how a room full of strangers leaves you.
Is INFP EII or IEI in socionics?
Usually EII for an INFP, and IEI often enough to be worth checking. The tell is pressure. Someone loud demanding an answer now shuts an EII down for the rest of the day, while the same person naming a time and then carrying an IEI along is doing them a service. Ask which of those two scenes you have actually lived.
Why is my socionics type different from my MBTI type?
Because the two systems don't measure the same thing. MBTI sorts you on four preferences. A socionics type is a fixed order of eight functions, and that order is what decides who you are easy with. The usual shortcut, which flips the last letter for introverts, sends INFP to EII by rule rather than by evidence. The equivalence is contested, so this site marks it with ≈ and an asterisk and lets the test settle it.
Who is the INFP's dual in socionics?
A dual is the type that is strong in exactly the places you are weak. If you come out EII, your dual is LSE, who settles the practical questions and says straight out what a thing costs. If IEI, it is SLE, who sets the date and holds you to it. If IEE, it is SLI, who takes the daily upkeep in hand, meals and rest included. Which one is yours depends on where the test lands.
