ENFJ in socionics: EIE, ESE or IEE?
Who are you easy with?
You're an ENFJ. MBTI told you who you are. It never told you who you fit with. In socionics those four letters open a set of three types rather than picking one: most ENFJs land on EIE, fewer on ESE, fewer again on IEE.
§1 Where ENFJs usually land
Most ENFJs land on EIE, who builds shared feeling toward a vision. ESE fits when present-moment hosting dominates, and some land on IEE.
§2 How to tell them apart
Can you say where something is heading a year out, and are you content to wait for it?
An EIE usually can, and does not mind the wait. The long view is their second seat, and it is pointed at people rather than markets. An ESE answers about the present instead, and being told where the road ends sounds to them like a dislike of the plan. An IEE sees the end of the road perfectly well and declines to narrow to it. A clear answer points to EIE, discomfort to ESE, and a shrug to IEE.
When it comes to meals, sleep and the state of the room, do you look after that or does somebody else?
An ESE produces comfort for other people and is precise about it: the chair you like, the food, the lamp in the right corner. An EIE overrides all of that for weeks at a time, then loses a whole day to the bill. An IEE wears down the same way but takes the care gratefully when somebody else supplies it. Doing it yourself points to ESE. Being looked after points to EIE or IEE, and the next question separates those two.
Does a clear rule, laid out plainly by someone who can defend it, settle you or irritate you?
Both EIE and ESE want that framework supplied from outside. A definition that holds comes as relief, and whoever holds it earns real loyalty. An IEE reads the same rule as dead on arrival: it makes no allowance for the person in front of them, and having their own work scored against it is what they resent. Relief points to EIE or ESE. Irritation points to IEE, whose fourth seat is exactly this.
§3 Why the letters don't just convert
The mechanical rule you'll see elsewhere — keep the letters, flip j/p for introverts — maps ENFJ to EIE (socionics ENFj). It assumes the two systems measure the same four dichotomies the same way. They don't quite: socionics builds its types from eight function positions, MBTI from four letter preferences, and the correspondence between them is genuinely contested — which is why every ≈MBTI equivalence on this site carries an asterisk (method §1).
The conversion test treats your MBTI as evidence rather than an answer: ENFJ opens the candidate set above, and about twenty targeted questions decide between the candidates.
Your four letters don't translate one-to-one — introverts in particular often land somewhere unexpected, and the two scoring schools don't always agree. That's why we test instead of assuming. The question people ask most is why is my socionics type different from my MBTI type, and the answer is that the two systems are counting different things.
§4 Your dual, under each candidate
Socionics answers the compatibility question with a single name: your dual, the closest thing socionics has to a soulmate. Which type that is depends on which of the three candidates you turn out to be, so there are three answers here, not one.
EIE's dual is LSI. An LSI holds the line and says the plain no that an EIE keeps looking for from outside: EIE and LSI.
ESE's dual is LII. An LII explains how the parts fit together and leaves the warmth of the room to the ESE: ESE and LII.
IEE's dual is SLI. An SLI quietly keeps the practical end of a life running while the ideas arrive and depart: IEE and SLI.

What is the ENFJ socionics type?
The ENFJ socionics type is not one type but a set of three: EIE most often, ESE next, IEE after that. EIE and ESE both lead with Fe, so the mood of a room is theirs to run, and they split on what sits behind it. IEE leads with Ne instead and works one person at a time. About twenty questions decide which.
Is ENFJ EIE or ESE in socionics?
Usually EIE, and the tell is time. An EIE keeps a picture of where things end up and can wait for it; an ESE answers about now and finds the five-year question unpleasant. The second tell is upkeep: an ESE feeds people and fixes the room, while an EIE skips meals and sleep for the current cause and pays for it later.

Who is the ENFJ's dual in socionics?
Your dual depends on which candidate you are. EIE's dual is LSI; ESE's dual is LII; IEE's dual is SLI. Duality is the relation socionics rates as easiest: each of you covers the seats the other is weak in, without being asked and without either of you keeping score. It is the pairing the test is built to name.
