An INFp lives among images of how things were and how they will be, and quietly colors the mood of the people nearby. Demands for efficiency and formal justification hit their weak spot (vulnerable Te). They feel relief when a decisive person pushes them past hesitation (suggestive Se), and a crisp explanation delights them (mobilizing Ti).

§2 How it actually goes
Strong or weak is how much capacity the seat has; valued or unvalued is whether an INFp wants to spend time there.
An INFp works the mood on purpose, and not often. They can lift a dull room or hold a grieving one. One well-timed remark can turn a group's attention. They pick the tone the way someone else picks a tool. And they watch the temperature for a long time before they touch it.
Put an INFp in charge of a household and it runs well for two weeks. The meal gets made, the room set right, the fuss taken off someone's hands. It's done for the person, not for the fun of it. It doesn't survive a long stretch of housekeeping. Their own arrangements slide the second nobody's watching.
Ask an INFp to show their work and the whole thing falls apart. Asked for the numbers, the method and the timeline, they fill out the form badly. Or they dodge the situation altogether. It leaves them feeling stupid, not just unprepared. They know the thing. They can't itemize it on demand.
An INFp wants someone to move them. A person who says this is happening Tuesday, then carries them along, is doing something they can't do alone. It lands as relief, not bossiness. Without that push, the vision stays a vision. The year goes by pleasantly, and nothing happens in it.
A clear framework gives an INFp more energy than they expect. Someone shows them how the parts of a subject actually fit — the real definition, the rule underneath. A vague sense turns into something they can use. They'll build on it for months. They're grateful for the scaffolding. They'd never have put it up themselves.
Alternatives come to an INFp easily, and they rarely want them. Push for a list and one arrives. But spreading attention across possibilities cuts against the one line they're already following. They'd sooner take that line further than keep several going. People who insist on several make them impatient.
An INFp reads the state of a bond precisely. Mostly they won't talk about it. They know who's cooled on whom, what a certain silence meant, and how much a friendship can take. It all comes out as tone, never as a statement. Pressed on where they stand with you, they answer with a joke.

- Sits through somebody's worst hour without trying to fix it, and the hour gets shorter (Fe).
What costs
- Keeps a spare room pleasant for a visitor, then leaves a broken heater unreported for a month (Si).
- Stalls when a meeting wants the figure, the source and the deadline, and has none of the three ready (Te).
- Files an expense report four months late with half the amounts guessed, and resents the form (Te).
What they want from other people
- Relaxes when somebody else is holding the calendar and the decision is already made, and follows without resenting it (Se).
- Hangs on to any clear rule that explains why the pieces sit where they do, long after the explainer is gone (Ti).
- Gets more from one person who supplies both the shove and the explanation than from two who supply one each (Se, Ti).

Compatibility here means coverage rather than fondness, who supplies what an INFp cannot supply alone.
ESTp is the dual. An INFp supplies the forecast and the mood; ESTp supplies the decision and the day it happens (INFp and ESTp).
ISTj is the activation partner. An evening together lifts both of them; a long weekend leaves both flat. Neither one keeps a pace the other can hold (INFp and ISTj).
ENFj is the mirror. The same beta material arrives in the opposite order: ENFj leads with the performance, an INFp with the forecast (INFp and ENFj).
ESTj is the conflictor, and it presses both ways. Schedules and visible output land where an INFp has nothing to give, and an INFp's unprovable forecasting does the same to ESTj (INFp and ESTj).
ENTj is the supervisor, and it runs one way. ENTj presses on the pragmatic logic an INFp is weakest at, without meaning to, and nothing comes back the other way (INFp and ENTj).

Hand an INFp the long question: where is this going, what will the room bear, who is about to quit. The reading comes early and is usually right. Keep procurement, the vendor spreadsheet and the quarterly numbers off their desk. Give an INFp a fixed date and one person with the standing to call it finished, and the work arrives.

Who is the INFp's dual?
ESTp. The dual's strong seats sit where an INFp's are thin, and the reverse. An INFp sees where a thing is heading and still cannot start it; ESTp starts things and rarely looks past Friday. What that buys is relief from the work each one does badly, not affection. INFp and ESTp has the detail.
