IEI and ILE rest well together and work badly together. Mirage tops up what each of them wants to be better at while their lead functions talk past each other, which is why ILE and IEI agree about a vacation and stall on a plan. Read the compatibility as domestic, not joint-venture.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- The evening's mood arrives already tuned, because the IEI's creative Fe lands on the ILE's mobilizing slot. The ILE gets to be loud and funny inside a warmth somebody else engineered, and they visibly run better in that weather.
- Confusion never lasts long here. The ILE can untangle a lease clause or a rules dispute in about three moves. And since the IEI's Ti is mobilizing, they take the clean explanation gratefully instead of resenting the lecture.
- A weekend of takeout, long conversation, and an unmade bed suits them both. The sensing axis is weak on both sides, so nobody polices the household, and neither holds it against the other.
- They share Ti and Fe values, so the jokes compound. The ILE supplies the wordplay, the IEI supplies the delivery and timing, and within a month they've built a private dialect outsiders can't parse.
- Idle conversation is their shared talent. The ILE describes what could happen. The IEI describes what it would feel like when it does. A whole car ride goes by without either of them checking the clock.
Where it grinds
- The ILE floats a dozen openings a day. The IEI, tuned to the one thread that matters, lets eleven pass without comment — the standard reception for base Ne pouring into an ignoring slot. The ILE reads the silence as dullness and performs harder, which doesn't help.
- The IEI's forebodings get the same treatment coming back. When they say, quietly, that this job will sour by spring, that's base Ni talking — and the ILE, who backgrounds Ni on principle, files it under atmosphere. Come spring, nobody enjoys being right.
- The ILE quotes benchmarks and market logic, offhand and half in irony. But Te sits in the IEI's vulnerable slot, so the joke lands like an audit. The IEI goes quiet for a whole evening over a sentence the ILE can't even remember saying.
- Anything they try to build together dies in committee. The ILE drafts the project and the IEI forecasts its arc, but neither one books the venue, files the form, or names a date. They discuss the plan warmly for two years.
- On the question of weight, their quadra tastes split. The IEI wants the relationship to mean something dramatic, in the proper beta manner. The ILE deflates gravity by reflex. The candlelit conversation the IEI staged ends in a pun.
