IEI and IEE: extinguishment
IEI and IEE care about the same things from opposite directions. Extinguishment pairs identical elements with every attitude flipped, so IEE and IEI agree in principle and undo each other in execution. The compatibility works in small, spaced doses and not much beyond them.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- The debrief is the best part of any party. The IEE finds the interesting stranger through base Ne; the IEI has already imagined that stranger's next ten years through base Ni. On the walk home, they assemble the whole biography between them.
- The IEE's per-person warmth from creative Fi meets the IEI's unclaimed relational bookkeeping in the demonstrative slot. Each knows who matters to whom, and in what order. They've never spent a word on it.
- The IEI colors the evening through creative Fe, and the IEE riffs back in the same key from demonstrative Fe — ironically, at will. Guests can never reconstruct who started the bit.
- When the IEI drops a forecast, the IEE follows it instantly. Ni is strong in the IEE, just deliberately shelved, so nobody has to show any reasoning. They trade predictions like slang.
- A full-intensity reunion every few months beats living together. Each arrives with a season's worth of people and omens to trade. The exchange rate stays excellent for about six hours.
Where it grinds
- During a self-improvement phase, the IEE proposes they track outcomes together — what the plan cost, what it returned. That's mobilizing Te, armed with a spreadsheet. But Te is the IEI's vulnerable slot, so the spreadsheet reads as an interrogation with columns.
- In return, the IEI asks the IEE to define the thing — mobilizing Ti wanting one clean category. Is this venture a business, a hobby, or a favor? The IEE, vulnerable to exact definitions, says it's all three and means it. That settles nothing.
- The IEE arrives with five openings. The IEI, committed to the single unfolding line, waves four away unexamined. From the inside, base Ne meeting ignoring Ne feels like being told your whole mind is clutter.
- The dismissal in the other direction is quieter. The IEI says this ends badly in about a year. The IEE answers or it doesn't, declining to grant any single future special status. Eventually the IEI stops publishing forecasts in this friendship.
- The last mismatch is the role-function swap. The IEI wants an outside force to get them moving and gets the IEE's role Se — a stern voice maintained for one afternoon. The IEE wants comfort arranged and gets the IEI's role Si — tea produced theatrically, exactly once. Both go home undernourished.
