IEI and SEE: semi-duality
IEI and SEE get duality's opening without its follow-through. Semi-duality covers the lead functions exactly and leaves the support functions crossed, so help between SEE and IEI arrives in the wrong shape at the worst moment. The compatibility is real, and it plateaus below what the first week promised.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- The SEE collects people at speed, and the IEI reads which of the five new allies will actually matter in a year. The SEE's suggestive Ni trusts that reading over its own excitement — a concession granted to nobody else.
- Left alone, the IEI will circle a decision for a season. The SEE decides in the car on the way over. The IEI's suggestive Se relief is real even when the decision is wrong.
- Each of them prefers a dramatic true thing to a soothing false one — standard Se-Ni taste. The safe script with the lawn appeals to neither, so nobody ever has to apologize for the interesting risk.
- The SEE never explains why a particular person is being cultivated. The IEI's demonstrative Fi mapped the maneuver before it started and watches with a connoisseur's interest. All that mutual legibility saves them hours of narration.
- The IEI colors an undertone into the room; the SEE amplifies it into an event. Creative Fe meeting demonstrative Fe gives their gatherings both a mood and a motor, and guests can never say who did what.
Where it grinds
- Hungry for progress, the SEE asks what the project produces and by when. The IEI's vulnerable Te hears an audit with no right answers. The poem doesn't have a deliverable, and now the evening is ruined.
- The IEI's mobilizing Ti wants things named exactly: what are we, under which definition, since when. The SEE's vulnerable Ti treats formal grading as hostile terrain and changes the subject with charm. The IEI logs the evasion anyway.
- When the IEI collapses, the SEE mounts a creative Fi campaign: loyalties secured, detractors handled, everyone reminded whose side to take. The IEI's demonstrative Fi needed none of it. What was wanted was one clear principle to stand on — Ti-shaped, and small.
- After a crash, the SEE gets the IEI's atmosphere: low light, elegy, the loss reframed as a chapter. The SEE's demonstrative Fe could outperform all of that in its sleep. What the SEE wanted was instructions for Monday — a mobilizing-Te item list, not meaning.
- The logic axis sits jointly vacant — vulnerable Te on one side, vulnerable Ti on the other — while the spending goes to style and to people. Each January the budget spreadsheet gets founded again, by whoever feels guiltier.
