IEE and SEI: semi-duality
IEE and SEI get duality's opening without its follow-through. Semi-duality covers the lead functions exactly and leaves the support functions crossed, so help between SEI and IEE arrives in the wrong shape at the worst moment. The compatibility is real, and it plateaus below what the first week promised.
Almost easy. Your lead functions cover each other exactly like duality. Your support functions don't. Strong starts, weak rescues.

Where it clicks
- The IEE brings home a stranger who's somehow already a project, and the SEI's suggestive Ne takes in each new possibility without once saying be realistic. That restraint makes the SEI nearly unique in the IEE's address book.
- There's soup, the spare room is made up, and the thermostat sits at the right number. The IEE's suggestive Si only registers comfort when it arrives from outside, so the SEI's ordinary Tuesday reads as minor sorcery.
- Hosting is one job they never have to divide up. The SEI tunes the room and the food; the IEE circulates the people. Between an SF host and an NF host, no guest goes unread — and nobody remembers planning any of it.
- Force is off the table by mutual construction. The SEI backgrounds Se entirely, and the IEE only performs it in short bursts. Disagreements get worn down with warmth and patience instead of pressed to a verdict.
- Whatever mood the SEI starts, the IEE can carry it. The SEI's creative Fe never plays to a dead room — the IEE's demonstrative Fe answers automatically. The household's emotional weather is a constant joint production.
Where it grinds
- In January the IEE announces a budgeting system, with the sincere, brief enthusiasm of mobilizing Te. By March the SEI is alone with the abandoned spreadsheet. The SEI's vulnerable Te reads every empty cell as an accusation.
- The SEI asks how exactly the plan works, step by step, wanting some small structure to lean on. The IEE's vulnerable Ti hears an oral exam and improvises. The SEI can tell.
- When the IEE is drowning, the SEI adjusts the atmosphere: candles, the favorite dinner, gentle Fe. The IEE's demonstrative Fe performs the gratitude convincingly while sinking further. The actual need was a concrete task taken off the pile.
- If someone hurts the SEI, the IEE explains the offender's inner life with creative Fi. The SEI's demonstrative Fi had reached the same reading a day earlier. What the SEI wanted was a plain rule for what to do next.
- Nobody in this household is on long-range duty. The SEI only runs Ni in short stretches, and the IEE ignores it outright. The lease renewal, the dentist, and the broken couch all arrive as ambushes. The couch is in year three.
