ESE and IEI: supervision (IEI supervises ESE)
ESE and IEI are not on level ground: IEI leads with the element ESE is weakest at, and presses on it without effort or intent. Supervision has a direction, so IEI and ESE live in the same relation differently — one feels watched, the other feels interested. The compatibility is asymmetric.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- Between these two the emotional channel runs wide open in both directions, the ESE's base Fe against the IEI's creative Fe. Each reads the other's moods instantly and plays them well. Guests describe the two of them as a show.
- The IEI forgets to eat somewhere inside a daydream, and the ESE's creative Si arrives with the plate and the blanket. The body the IEI's role slot neglects gets maintained by a professional.
- Not yet, wait for his mood to turn: the IEI's timing advice about people arrives in Fe terms the ESE actually trusts. Acting on it, the ESE wins the negotiation with the landlord.
- Logical authority goes unclaimed on both sides, the ESE being suggestive in Ti and the IEI mobilizing it. A clear rule imported from outside relieves them both, so who's right in principle never becomes the fight.
- The ESE throws the party, and afterward the IEI narrates what it meant. The ESE reuses that narration for weeks, always with credit, and starts planning the next party around it.
Where it grinds
- At breakfast the IEI offers musings on how things end, meant as texture. Their base Ni presses the ESE's vulnerable slot with every one. The ESE, who dreads open stretches of time, hears doom over the toast.
- Wait is the IEI's sincere counsel and the ESE's private torture. Postponed decisions pile up until the ESE acts just to make the waiting stop, and the IEI notes that the timing was wrong. Sometimes it was, which makes everything worse.
- The ESE's base Fe wants feeling declared and fixed in place. The IEI's creative Fe treats mood as an instrument and won't pin the meaning down. The ESE reads that as a door left open on purpose.
- To the IEI, the full calendar and the full table read as noise laid over the signal. To the ESE, the still, unscheduled evening sounds like time being wasted. They're both describing Sunday.
- So what's the plan for us, the ESE asks. The answer comes back as an image of the far future with no dates in it. The ESE fills the gap with hosting, the IEI drifts inward, and both call this patience.
