ESE and ILE: activation
ESE and ILE lift each other on contact and tire each other out by Sunday. Activation puts each one's lead function on what the other is trying to grow, so ILE and ESE start fast and never settle into a rhythm. The compatibility is short-range: good for a trip, harder for a household.
Fun fast, tiring long. Each of you leads with what the other is trying to grow. Energizing on contact, exhausting over a long weekend. Your rhythms never quite sync.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- At a party they work as a two-person operation. The ESE runs the room's temperature with base Fe while the ILE supplies the outrageous theory that keeps the corner table up past one. The guests assume the whole thing was rehearsed.
- The ESE's creative Si keeps the ILE fed, rested, and in clean shirts. None of it is ever a ceremony. To the ILE's suggestive Si this registers as quiet luxury — the kind they only notice once it's gone, usually within a day.
- The ESE gets tangled in a refund dispute or a suspicious contract. The ILE's creative Ti boils it down to the one clause that actually matters. The ESE's suggestive Ti takes the ruling gratefully and repeats it to the vendor word for word.
- An audience of one is plenty. The ILE demos the half-built idea at the kitchen counter, the ESE's Fe applauds like a full house, and that's exactly the dose the ILE's mobilizing Fe runs on.
- They're both alpha. Arguing is a form of play, and status isn't anyone's currency. A loud disagreement about whether octopuses dream ends with dessert, not damage, and neither of them takes the argument personally.
Where it grinds
- Nobody in this house actually books the flights. The ESE's vulnerable Ni dreads open-ended timing questions, and the ILE's Ni is strong but parked on purpose. So the trip they both wanted gets booked at double the fare, or not at all.
- The ILE's base Ne turns out its tenth scheme of the week. The ESE's mobilizing Ne only has an appetite for one. What started as encouragement turns into triage, and by the fourth pitch the ESE is nodding without listening.
- The ESE broadcasts emotional weather all day. The ILE's mobilizing Fe only wanted bursts, not coverage. By evening the ILE has gone monosyllabic, which the ESE reads as a crisis that calls for more broadcasting.
- By Wednesday the ESE has Saturday fully planned. The ILE wakes up on Saturday with a better idea and honestly can't see the problem — as far as they're concerned, nothing was happening yet. Both come away feeling the weekend was taken from them.
- A private grievance here has nowhere to go. The ILE's vulnerable Fi can't put a name to it. And the ESE, who reads rooms, not bonds, keeps the group cheerful right over the top of it.
