ESFj and ENTj: super-ego

Where it clicks
- The ENTj performs affability at networking events the way a company runs a fire drill — that's role Fe. Watching an ESFj actually enjoy sixty strangers, the ENTj takes it as evidence of a talent worth hiring.
- The ESFj runs their side business on warmth and a shoebox of receipts. Their Te is strictly a role function. They talk about an ENTj acquaintance's clean margins and automated invoicing with plain, uncomplicated respect.
- Put them on a fundraiser and they're formidable: the ESFj fills the hall and feeds it, the ENTj prices the tickets and books the venue on a projection. Each privately considers the other's half the hard part.
- Neither of them can sit still through a slow Sunday. Between errands, guests, and a garage project, the shared appetite for motion means nobody has to drag anybody off a couch.
- After a week at the ESFj's house, the ENTj notices they've been sleeping and eating on a regular schedule for the first time in a quarter. Nobody discussed it. That's the only way the ENTj could've accepted it.
Where it grinds
- The ESFj ministers out loud: you look tired, sit down, eat something, take the scarf. The ENTj overrides the body's signals as a matter of policy and hears each kindness as a bulletin that the machine is visibly failing.
- The ENTj plans in five-year arcs and says so over dinner: where the market's going, where they'll be at fifty. The ESFj's vulnerable Ni can't hold that frame, so the future arrives as dread wearing a spreadsheet.
- Shared money goes wrong first. The ENTj reads the joint account like a performance review. The ESFj's cheerful improvised spending becomes a line item that comes up every month.
- When the ESFj stages feeling, it's at full volume: celebrations, grievances, toasts that require participation. The ENTj's role Fe can keep up for an evening. The overdraft shows up next morning as a flatness the ESFj reads as coldness.
- They throw different parties on purpose. The ESFj invites everyone and calls it warmth. The ENTj invites six useful people and calls it efficient. Each finds the other's guest list faintly indecent.
