An ENTj is always costing something. What this takes, what it returns, which step is wasted, whether the supplier's worth keeping — that math runs whether or not there's a decision to make. They'll rework a process they have no stake in. It was sitting right there in front of them, being inefficient.
An ENTj bets on where things will be in a few years and will trade today's polish for tomorrow's position. Their weak spot is the body's daily signals (vulnerable Si): hunger, rest, and small comforts get overridden until they force the issue. They value quiet certainty about who is truly loyal (suggestive Fi), and tests and competition energize them (mobilizing Se).

§2 How it actually goes
Strong or weak is how much capacity the seat has; valued or unvalued is whether an ENTj wants to spend time there.
The long view is on purpose. It's what an ENTj is really selling. They bet on where a market, a technology, or a career is going. Then they organize the practical work around that call. They're willing to be wrong in public. That's rarer than the confidence makes it look.
An ENTj can work the room when they have to — the toast, the pitch, the show of warmth at exactly the right moment. And they do it well. It's a performance with a purpose. It comes off the second the purpose is served. Hanging out with nothing to get done is where they check out.
An ENTj treats their body as an obstacle to route around. Meals get skipped. Sleep gets traded. The first real sign any of it mattered is a physical breakdown. It stops everything for two weeks. Telling them to slow down sounds like a dig at their commitment — which is exactly what it wasn't.
Closeness that's unclear is the one thing an ENTj can't figure out alone. They want to be told where they stand. Plainly. Someone who's just loyal and says so settles something no achievement ever has. On their own, they read it badly. So they value the few people who make it impossible to miss.
Direct pressure doesn't put an ENTj off — it fires them up. A hard deadline, a rival, someone who says no. Any of these gets a burst of output no amount of planning would have. They know this about themselves. When nothing's pushing back, they'll sometimes arrange for something to. Then the work gets done.
An ENTj can build the formal system just fine. They think it's a bad use of an afternoon. Consistency for its own sake is someone else's hobby. What matters is whether the thing produces. Tell them their approach breaks the framework and they'll ask what the framework's ever earned. They mean the question.
Ideas turn up faster than an ENTj bothers to mention them. The few that get said come out light, never pushed. Making them costs nothing. So they're valued at nothing. What an ENTj really rates is the person who takes one away and sees it through.

What comes easily
- Prices a job while the other person is still describing it — hours, waste, and what the fix returns (Te).
- Rewrites a shift pattern or a supplier list nobody asked them to touch, because the waste was in plain sight (Te).
- Names the year a business stops working, then arranges this quarter around that call (Ni).
- Takes the public risk of a forecast, and places the next one after being wrong about the last (Ni).
What costs
- Performs warmth accurately when there is something to accomplish, and checks out the minute there is not (Fe).
- Reaches for the joke with an edge on it under strain, and lands it harder than intended (Fe).
- Skips meals and trades sleep, then hears a suggestion to rest as doubt about their commitment (Si).
- Registers a bad chair or a wrecked back only once the output has fallen off (Si).
What they want from other people
- Wants where they stand said plainly, in words, and said again a year later (Fi).
- Runs faster when the pressure comes from outside — a firm date, a rival, somebody who will not fold (Se).
- Keeps a short list of people who have already proved it, and asks that list before anything binding (Fi).

Socionics reads compatibility as coverage: whose strong seats land on the other person's sore ones.
The dual, ISFj, says the loyalty out loud and holds the line in the room, which an ENTj never manages alone.
Activation with ESFp is quick and loud for an evening, then draining: the pace suits neither of them by Sunday.
The mirror, INTp, reads the same trends and treats the forecast as the work, leaving the doing to somebody else.
Conflict runs both directions: an ISFp leads with the bodily comfort an ENTj overrides, and finds an ENTj's pace unlivable.
The supervisor is an ISTp, whose easy competence with rest and comfort presses on an ENTj's weakest seat without meaning to.
§5 At work
Hand an ENTj the thing that has to pay: the failing contract, the launch nobody can date, the unit that loses money quietly. They will price it, pick a direction, and take the public risk of naming when it turns. Keep the standing morale work off their desk — the weekly cheer, the team's emotional weather. Keep the travel schedule off it as well; they will take the six-o'clock flight to save an hour and lose the whole day at the other end. In socionics, ENTj produces most when somebody else owns the calendar and the room's mood.

Model A files Ne in an ENTj's eighth seat: strong, unvalued, running in the background. Alternatives arrive unbidden — the other trade the depot could serve, the third product hiding inside a service contract — and are mentioned once, then let go. Model G, Gulenko's energy model, promotes that same element into its second, visible seat, the instrument a type is known for. Read that way, the throwaway line at the end of a call is not spare capacity. It is the social mission: telling a room what else its business could be. Who is the ENTj's dual?
An ENTj's dual is ISFj. Picture the ENTj three weeks into a fight with a supplier, running on four hours' sleep and certain they are right. The ISFj says the two things nobody else will: that the fight is worth having, and that they are staying either way. An ENTj cannot supply that seat alone.
Which quadra is ENTj in, and what does that mean?
ENTj sits in the gamma quadra with ESFp, INTp and ISFj. The four elements gamma values are Te, Ni, Fi and Se: what works, where it is heading, who is actually loyal, and force applied openly. In practice it is a room where people expect each other to stand on their own and say the unwelcome thing on a Tuesday.
How do I tell ENTj from ESTj?
The tell is time. An ESTj improves the operation that already exists — today's schedule, this month's numbers — and can show the gain by Friday. An ENTj will accept a worse Friday for a better position in three years, and says so out loud. ESTp is the other frequent mix-up: an ESTp takes the ground first and prices it afterward.
