LIE and IEI: supervision (LIE supervises IEI)
LIE and IEI are not on level ground: LIE leads with the element IEI is weakest at, and presses on it without effort or intent. Supervision has a direction, so IEI and LIE live in the same relation differently — one feels watched, the other feels interested. The compatibility is asymmetric.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- Dinner conversation runs on where the industry, the family, and the decade are all heading. The LIE's creative Ni can hold the IEI's base Ni for hours, without one line of small talk.
- This is where it turns, says the IEI. The LIE converts that image into an actual position — in a market, with money on it. The IEI gets consulted like an instrument and finds the role agreeable.
- Before the investor dinner, the IEI's creative Fe retunes the LIE's pitch from spreadsheet into story. The LIE's role Fe can perform it convincingly for exactly one evening. That turns out to be enough.
- Both sides admire decisiveness. Se is mobilizing for the LIE and suggestive for the IEI. When the LIE does move, the IEI — who can't ever move first — moves with them gladly.
- A good evening here involves long silences, separate screens, and the occasional forecast exchanged across the room. Both of them describe it exactly that way, independently. Neither is being ironic.
Where it grinds
- What did you do today, what did it cost, what is it for. The LIE's base Te presses these on the vulnerable slot hourly. The IEI's honest answer is that they watched, waited, and understood something. None of that books as output.
- To the LIE, the IEI's finances are a rounding error with feelings attached: untracked spending, an invoice met with a shrug. The LIE sets up a budget tracker. Within a month the IEI treats it as scenery.
- They share Ni. They also share the fight over who owns the future. The LIE's creative version bends the forecast toward the business plan. The IEI's base version says the plan misreads the current. Every so often, the current agrees with the IEI.
- The IEI's mood-weather fills the apartment, Fe pressing against a role slot. The LIE responds with scheduled cheerfulness. The IEI rates that as worse than honest gloom, and says so obliquely for weeks.
- The LIE gives every household project a deadline. The kitchen renovation plan lists the IEI on three tasks. By the second week, all three have been quietly renegotiated into observation.
