ENTj and ENTp: quasi-identity
ENTj and ENTp share topics and cannot share methods. Quasi-identity keeps the vocabulary familiar and the meanings shifted, so work handed between ENTp and ENTj has to be redone rather than continued. The compatibility is conversational; it does not survive a deadline.
Looks like you. Isn't. Same topics, methods that don't mix. Everything about them is familiar, and none of it is usable.

Where it clicks
- They never run out of shop talk. Both read the same journals, follow the same startups, and argue about where computing goes next. Dinner guests assume the two of them agree about everything. That's the standard mistake.
- When the ENTp pitches, the ENTj's demonstrative Ne keeps pace without strain. Then the ENTj tops the idea and asks what it costs to build. The ENTp finds that bracing, not deflating. Most audiences manage neither.
- Neither of them is squeamish about money. The ENTp quotes market figures with offhand accuracy — demonstrative Te at work. The ENTj respects anyone who can read a term sheet without flinching. Nobody pretends the venture is about anything nobler.
- Nobody brings sentiment into an argument. One of them can call a design stupid at full volume and the evening simply continues. Outsiders think they're watching a fight. Both parties are having a fine time.
- Put them in a crisis and they both come alive. The plan collapses at midnight, the ENTp improvises three exits, and the ENTj picks the profitable one inside ten minutes. Under fire the division of labor is clean. Only peacetime breaks it.
Where it grinds
- The ENTp runs six projects at once and calls it a portfolio. The ENTj's creative Ni wants one committed trajectory, so the ENTj keeps asking which of the six will survive the year. To the ENTp, that question sounds like a cage.
- The ENTp presents an elegant Ti framework, and it lands in the ENTj's ignoring slot. The ENTj understands it completely, then sets it aside — the only test they honor is whether it earns. The ENTp watches years of clean theory ship as an ugly prototype that sells.
- Both of them go hungry in that apartment. The ENTj's vulnerable Si skips meals for the mission. The ENTp's suggestive Si waits for someone else to notice the fridge. Nobody in this household is that someone.
- The calendar is a border war. The ENTj builds the quarter in advance and treats the schedule as binding. The ENTp treats every commitment as a draft. To the ENTj, each cancellation is a broken contract, not a mood.
- Privately, the ENTj writes the ENTp off as brilliance without discipline. The ENTp writes the ENTj off as curiosity that sold out for revenue. Neither verdict gets said aloud — Fi bookkeeping isn't either one's strength.
