SLE and ILI: semi-duality
SLE and ILI get duality's opening without its follow-through. Semi-duality covers the lead functions exactly and leaves the support functions crossed, so help between ILI and SLE arrives in the wrong shape at the worst moment. The compatibility is real, and it plateaus below what the first week promised.
Almost easy. Your lead functions cover each other exactly like duality. Your support functions don't. Strong starts, weak rescues.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- The ILI has watched the opening for months without moving. The SLE parks outside and honks. Suggestive Se means the ILI complains the whole way there and comes along anyway — which in ILI dialect is gratitude.
- Before committing, the SLE checks exactly one source. The ILI says wait until March, this collapses on its own — and turns out right often enough that the SLE takes timing from the ILI and nobody else alive.
- The two of them share the Se-Ni worldview: force and foresight are respectable, and soft optimism is for children. Neither ever asks the other to be nicer about reality, which each counts as a domestic luxury.
- Campaign planning here is a real two-desk operation. The SLE lays out the scheme in creative Ti, and the ILI stress-tests it against everything that has ever actually failed. A plan that survives both reviews usually survives contact.
- A bad investment dies quietly in this house. Neither performs optimism at a sunk cost. The ILI names the trend, the SLE executes the exit, and the subject is closed by dinner — no eulogy.
Where it grinds
- After the win, the SLE wants noise: toasts, the whole table, mobilizing Fe at full volume. The ILI produces one flat sentence and leaves early. The SLE scores that as ingratitude. It's really vulnerable Fe incapacity, but at range the two look identical.
- What they are to each other never gets said out loud. The ILI's mobilizing Fi drops one oblique attachment signal a year. The SLE's vulnerable Fi doesn't detect it, and the ILI doesn't repeat it. Years pass this way.
- When the ILI goes dark, the SLE offers a structural read of the problem — creative Ti in outline form. The ILI's demonstrative Ti has already drafted three such outlines. The unmet want was plain personal regard, which the SLE's vulnerable Fi never registers as requested.
- When the SLE's venture wobbles, the ILI files the autopsy: what historically fails, complete with citations. The SLE's demonstrative Te already knew and hears told-you-so. The actual want was suggestive Ni pointed forward — at when to strike next, not backward.
- The SLE runs the room beta-style: loud, teasing everyone into rank. The gamma ILI holds that loyalty is proven in private, not toasted, and withdraws to the balcony. The withdrawal has become a standing joke that isn't one.
