ENTp and ISFj: conflict
ENTp and ISFj press on each other's sorest seat without meaning to. Conflict is the hardest of the sixteen: what ISFj and ENTp each do most naturally is what the other can least afford to hear. The compatibility does not improve with closeness — this is the one relation that gets worse.
Hardest. Don't force it. Your lead function presses squarely on their sorest spot, and theirs on yours. Intriguing from a distance. Up close, it wears you both down.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- At dinner, the ENTp reframes a friend's ruined career as three openings nobody has tried yet. The ISFj had already written the man off as finished, and the demonstration loosens something. At that dose, Ne works as a tonic, not a threat.
- The ISFj settles the landlord dispute in one phone call, voice level and terms exact. The ENTp's own Se is a strained performance at best. They watch how it's done and quietly take notes.
- As colleagues with separate duties they do well: the ENTp builds the prototypes, the ISFj vets the people. One Fi verdict on a charming vendor has saved the ENTp money more than once. The ENTp has learned to take the verdict without asking for the reasoning.
- By instinct, the ISFj already held the boundary. What the ENTp's Ti adds is the clean wording. Handed the tidy principle, the ISFj deploys it on a manipulative relative with visible satisfaction.
- When money disputes come up, each lands on the right desk. The ENTp finds the loophole in the contract. The ISFj delivers the refusal to the salesman, face to face. Each admires the half of the job they'd hate to do themselves.
Where it grinds
- Over dinner the ENTp floats selling the house and consulting from Lisbon. To the ISFj's vulnerable Ne this isn't conversation. It's unseriousness about promises already made, and the warmth in the room drops a few degrees before dessert.
- There's a ledger, and the ISFj keeps it: you were curt to my sister in March. The ENTp, blind at Fi, can't retrieve the event or the offense. The blankness is honest, and it reads to the ISFj as denial.
- The chore schedule gets enforced through the ISFj's creative Se, directly and in person. The ENTp meets that pressure with brittle counter-pressure they can't sustain, then disappears into a project for two days. Each is sure the other one started it.
- A stated position means something different to each of them. The ENTp offers opinions as scaffolding and fully expects to revise them. The ISFj records each one as a commitment. What the ENTp calls updating, the ISFj calls going back on your word, and the file grows.
- Halfway through a trip, a better route appears and the ENTp takes it. The trouble: the ISFj had already told the aunt they'd arrive Tuesday. The objection comes in moral terms the ENTp can't parse, so they argue logistics, which is exactly not the point.
