§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- One of them floats a half-formed idea and the other runs it three moves further out. Neither asks why it matters. Ne sits in the base slot on both sides, so a premise never has to be defended.
- Arguments about mechanism stay playful. Both run Ti in the creative slot, so taking apart each other's logic reads as help, not attack. Whoever loses a debate is usually pleased about it.
- Plans can change mid-trip without a single casualty. Both keep long-range sequencing in the background — ignoring Ni — so a missed train is just a rerouted afternoon, not a ruined itinerary.
- Neither audits the other's feelings. Fi is vulnerable for both, so nobody demands to know what a joke really meant. Offhand bluntness travels both ways without turning into a tribunal.
- Abandoned projects count as transferable property. Either one can pick up the other's stalled scheme, grasp the principle instantly, and take it further. Half-finished work feels shared, not wasted.
Where it grinds
- The fridge exists mostly in theory. Si is suggestive on both sides, so meals, laundry, and sleep all wait for a caretaker who never shows up. Both of them are quietly surprised by this every time.
- Between them: twelve open projects, zero closed ones. Two Ne bases generate faster than either finishes, and with Ni backgrounded on both sides, a deadline only turns real once an outsider enforces it.
- They have no vocabulary for a real rupture. When one of them is actually hurt, vulnerable Fi on both sides keeps the injury unnamed, so it sits in the friendship for months disguised as a scheduling problem.
- In any group, they're after the same chair. Each wants to be the one who saw it first, so they quietly poke holes in each other's proposals to win back the idea-person role.
- Their Ti duels outlive whatever started them. A dispute over which framework is cleaner can run two hours, while the actual decision — one either framing would've settled — never gets made.
