§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- First contact feels like a fair, base Ne meeting base Ne. One opens with a half-formed scheme, and the other finds three uses for it before the coffee arrives. Neither has met anyone who keeps up this well.
- An abandoned project doesn't count as a failure for either of them. The apartment holds the ILE's disassembled radio and the IEE's unfinished introductions between friends. Both read the clutter as proof of a life still generating options.
- Since both carry Se in the role slot, neither one bullies the other. Decisions run on enthusiasm, not pressure, and whoever cares less just drifts along. Nobody in this household issues ultimatums.
- Si holds the suggestive slot on both sides. A friend's warm kitchen, a good mattress, someone else's Thanksgiving cooking — they accept all of it with the same gratitude, and neither mocks the other for going soft.
- On a trip, the IEE collects people and the ILE collects problems, and each finds the other's haul interesting. The NF and NT clubs split the territory cleanly enough that there's no rivalry over material.
Where it grinds
- The ILE's creative Ti lands squarely on the IEE's vulnerable spot. One friendly mid-story request to define terms and the IEE deflates — the story was about a person, not a proposition. The ILE files the reaction under oversensitivity.
- The IEE returns fire in kind: creative Fi hits the ILE right where the bandwidth is lowest. A quiet remark that a mutual friend felt used by last week's joke leaves the ILE lost, then defensive. Neither can explain the injury in terms the other takes seriously.
- Both ignore Ni and only perform Se. So they plan the trip in one glorious evening, and three months later there are no tickets — each privately believed the other was handling it.
- From the same evidence, they reach opposite verdicts on people. The ILE keeps a contact because the arguments are good. The IEE drops that same person over how they treat waiters. Each suspects the other's filter is the broken one.
- Their quadra values split late but hard. The ILE (alpha) wants the whole group laughing at the same absurdity; the IEE (delta) wants each friendship tended separately. A party one of them calls a success, the other calls a missed conversation.
