ILE and ILI: extinguishment
ILE and ILI care about the same things from opposite directions. Extinguishment pairs identical elements with every attitude flipped, so ILI and ILE agree in principle and undo each other in execution. The compatibility works in small, spaced doses and not much beyond them.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- Since both of them are researchers, the subjects never run out: markets, machines, theories of everything. The ILE generates ten openings in a night. The ILI, forecasting from base Ni, says which two will survive contact with reality. The ILE knows they're getting free feasibility screening.
- The ILI's creative Te lands right in the ILE's demonstrative slot. When the ILI cites what's actually worked, the ILE follows instantly and never asks for the sources. They trade proof at conversation speed.
- The Ti scaffolding the ILE builds is a second language the ILI speaks but never claims. The ILI can flag a flaw in the scheme as a dry aside. The ILE takes the correction without ceremony, because it arrives in a register they already own.
- The question of how the other is feeling never comes up, and both notice the omission with gratitude. A visit is two hours of argument, no hosting duties, no debrief afterward.
- They do better with a call every few weeks than with a shared office. Each conversation restocks the ILE with constraints and the ILI with raw material. The inversion never gets enough runway to reach execution.
Where it grinds
- When the ILE brainstorms, it lands on the ILI's ignoring Ne. The reply comes back flat: considered it, it fails by year two. The ILE's base function — the thing that runs all day for free — gets filed as noise that's already been processed.
- It happens in reverse when the ILI's long-range verdicts hit the ILE's ignoring Ni. The ILE hears the forecast, agrees it's probably right, and changes the subject within a minute. Eventually the ILI learns to keep the timeline private.
- The ILE's mobilizing Fe wants the dinner lively and recruits the ILI as an audience. But Fe is the ILI's vulnerable slot. So the ILI stands at the party like rented furniture, the ILE reads the stillness as sabotage, and each is right about the other.
- The ILI has a modest appetite for personal loyalty — mobilizing Fi — and it points straight at the ILE's blind spot. What it wants is some sign that the friendship is particular. The ILE can't see that a question is being asked, so the account goes unpaid for years.
- Joint projects stall because their pacing runs in opposite directions. The ILE announces the venture publicly while it's still a sketch. The ILI won't call it real until the numbers close. The paper, the product, the fund: all drafted twice, shipped never.
