§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- An argument between them stays about the logic. The ILE builds the Ti case and the SLE stress-tests it with the same instrument. Neither keeps a personal ledger, so they've both forgotten the dispute within the hour.
- If the plan needs someone to walk in and take the room, the SLE goes. If it needs a third option nobody saw coming, the ILE has four ready. Each watches the other's specialty with professional interest.
- Neither of them sulks. Fi is vulnerable in both stacks, so nobody catalogs slights and nobody waits for an apology. A blunt exchange over shared money just ends when it ends.
- Games, bets, and loud company suit them both. Each carries mobilizing Fe and rises to whatever noise the other starts. A road trip with these two up front is never a quiet one.
- Buying a car, the SLE handles the salesman while the ILE reads the financing paperwork for the trick clause. Both are working the deal with Ti. The SLE just adds pressure at the desk.
Where it grinds
- When the SLE presses for a commitment on the spot, the ILE performs decisiveness for one scene — Se is role-slot work for them. Then the question reopens by text at midnight, and the SLE reads that as backing out of a deal.
- The ILE's what-if cascade runs into the SLE's role Ne. The SLE entertains two branches with visible effort, then demands to know which version they're actually doing. The ILE feels like the conversation just got confiscated.
- Comfort, for the ILE, is something other people supply, and the SLE backgrounds Si entirely. Meals are whatever's nearest. The thermostat sits wherever the SLE last left it, and the ILE gets vaguely miserable without a complaint they can name.
- Quietly, the SLE wants someone to name where all this is heading — that's the suggestive Ni talking. The ILE ignores Ni on principle and treats every trajectory as revisable. So the long-range question gets a shrug from exactly the person the SLE picked to ask.
- The one thing neither of them notices is that the relationship itself needs maintenance. Fi is vulnerable on both sides, so nobody takes offense and nobody checks in. The alliance quietly expires between projects, and months pass before either registers the loss.
