SEE and ESE: quasi-identity
SEE and ESE share topics and cannot share methods. Quasi-identity keeps the vocabulary familiar and the meanings shifted, so work handed between ESE and SEE has to be redone rather than continued. The compatibility is conversational; it does not survive a deadline.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- They throw parties instead of discussing them. The ESE handles the warmth and the food. The SEE works the room one person at a time. Guests go home certain nothing better will happen all year.
- A stranger gets read inside a minute, by either one of them. At a school meeting or a farmers market, one exchanged glance settles who's bluffing. The two verdicts almost never disagree.
- Nobody has to negotiate spontaneity here. A Saturday trip proposed at nine is on the road by ten. Neither asks for an itinerary, and neither sulks when the route changes twice.
- In a physical emergency, both of them move. The SEE's base Se takes charge of the scene. The ESE's demonstrative Se clears furniture and issues orders nobody argues with. By the time the ambulance arrives, it's all handled.
- Feelings don't get hoarded in this pair. Affection, irritation, and delight all get spent the same day they're earned. No archive of unspoken grievance sits waiting under the floorboards.
Where it grinds
- They're two performers sharing one stage. The ESE builds the general mood. Then the SEE's demonstrative Fe cuts through it with a charm offensive aimed at the two most useful guests. The ESE reads that as poaching the room.
- The SEE ranks people. The ESE refuses to. What the SEE calls backing a winner, the ESE's ignoring Fi calls favoritism. Their quarrel over whose friend gets the spare ticket is never really about the ticket.
- Nobody in this house reads the lease. The ESE's suggestive Ti keeps asking someone to explain the clause in plain terms. The request hits the SEE's vulnerable Ti like an exam. The clause stays unread until renewal, when it costs them.
- The five-year question defeats them as a team. The SEE's suggestive Ni wants someone to say where all this is heading. That exact question wears down the ESE's vulnerable Ni. Long-range planning waits for a third party.
- The ESE fusses over whether the chairs are right and the soup is hot — creative Si at work. The SEE's ignoring Si finds the fuss beside the point once the crowd is going. Each host privately thinks the other misses what a party is for.
