Where it clicks
- The moral ledger never needs translating between them. Both lead with Fi and keep their accounts few and deep. Each recognizes in the other that rare person who also knows exactly who is owed what.
- They decline small talk together. With Fe pushed to the ignoring slot on both sides, their evenings skip the performance and start at the real conversation — the one each had privately despaired of finding.
- Loyalty runs on the same calendar for both. Neither forgets a kindness, and each notices that the other noticed. Visits to the sick and calls after funerals happen in both directions, and nobody has to organize them.
- The ESI (SF) handles the confrontations and the household's physical defense; the EII (NF) handles the interpretations and the long letters. They settle this division of moral labor early, and it suits both clubs.
- Advice in Te form lands gratefully at both suggestive slots. The blunt practical friend who says buy this model, sign here, gets shared like a utility, and neither pretends to have vetted it any further.
Where it grinds
- Defending people is how the ESI shows devotion, and creative Se is the instrument. A showdown conducted on the EII's behalf — at volume, in the stairwell — lands directly on the EII's vulnerable spot. The EII yields immediately, then carries the scene for a week.
- The EII's creative Ne answers with an injury of its own. Extending a third chance to the friend who has lied twice strikes the ESI not as grace but as unseriousness about harm. Unseriousness is the one thing the ESI can't forgive.
- In one ledger the file on the offending cousin is closed; in the other it's still open. The ESI passed sentence back in March. The EII is still rereading the evidence for context. Thanksgiving now requires diplomatic scheduling, indefinitely.
- The practical verdict is beyond both of them. With Te suggestive on each side, the insurance question circulates for months, gathering moral considerations and no decision, until an outsider ends it in ten minutes.
- Their standards collide over the guest list. The EII sees who a difficult friend could become and holds the door open. The ESI sees what that friend did at the wedding and bolts it. The door itself becomes the annual argument.
