ESI and LSI solve with the same instrument for different ends. Business relations are the working-distance kind: tactics transfer cleanly between LSI and ESI, warmth does not. The compatibility is professional, and it lasts about as long as the shared task.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- Household order gets enforced from both sides. Se is creative in both stacks, so chores happen on schedule and boundaries with relatives hold. Neither one has to play lone bad cop at the door.
- A plan is concrete or it isn't a plan at all. With Ne vulnerable on both sides, nobody floats hypothetical futures over dinner. Both of them experience the absence as sanity.
- The freeloading cousin draws a system-based ruling from the LSI and a character-based one from the ESI. The two verdicts usually convict the same offender. The cousin leaves.
- Both of them like the long view in small, encouraged doses. They share mobilizing Ni, so a calendar, an anniversary tradition, or a retirement date penciled in feels steadying to each of them, not confining.
- Repairs, debts, and favors get settled promptly. Neither of them tolerates an open loop, so the borrowed drill comes back on Tuesday and the insult from March gets addressed in March.
Where it grinds
- The ESI can recite the household rulebook when pressed, but Ti is a role-slot performance for them. The actual rulings go by person and precedent. The LSI hears every exception as corrosion of the system.
- Asked to declare where a mutual friend now stands, the LSI produces a stiff, formal statement of loyalty — Fi is role-slot work there. The ESI notes, and files, that it had to be asked for.
- They are two enforcers sharing one thermostat. When they disagree, both apply creative Se and neither is built to yield. Small disputes escalate into siege conditions over the right way to load a car.
- A lively room someone else supplies is what warms the LSI up — that's the suggestive Fe slot at work. But the ESI keeps expressiveness backgrounded and runs a quiet house. The LSI gets order everywhere and cheer nowhere, and mistakes the itch for boredom.
- Which mechanic, which fund, what it actually costs: the ESI's suggestive Te quietly wants those answers. The LSI ignores Te and answers from the system's internal logic. The mechanic question stays open.
