LII and ILE: mirror
LII and ILE run the same two functions in the opposite order. Mirror relations mean shared subject matter and reversed seriousness: ILE and LII keep editing each other's emphasis, and the work usually improves. The compatibility is collegial — high on understanding, low on rest.
Same work, opposite order. Your base and creative functions are swapped. Same interests, reversed seriousness — each of you treats as craft what the other treats as calling.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- When these two argue at the kitchen table, something actually comes of it. The ILE floods the table with every version of what the idea could become. The LII, running base Ti, checks each one against the framework and hands back a verdict they both accept.
- Planning a trip takes no negotiating. The ILE proposes six detours before breakfast. The LII rules that only two survive the logic of the itinerary, and explains the criteria. Since the criteria were spelled out, the ILE lets the other four go without a grievance.
- Ordinary life rarely lands on either one's sore spot. The ILE doesn't enforce deadlines by force, which spares the LII's vulnerable Se. The LII doesn't keep relational accounts out loud, which spares the ILE's vulnerable Fi. The peace isn't something they worked for. It's built into the arrangement.
- Half a sentence is usually enough. The ILE opens a what-if and the LII has already pulled out the principle. The LII starts on a definition and the ILE has three applications ready before it's done. Guests report the conversation is impossible to follow and clearly a good time.
- What one refuses to do, the other's background strength quietly covers. The ILE, with demonstrative Te, cheerfully digs up the benchmark data the LII won't chase down. The LII's demonstrative Ni, in return, notes which of the ILE's ten schemes will still matter a year out.
Where it grinds
- Each knows exactly how to hit the other's sore spot. A rare Fi verdict from the LII — that remark was out of line — lands on the ILE's vulnerable Fi like an indictment. A rare Se push from the ILE — decide now — leaves the LII rattled for the rest of the day.
- Comfort is the one thing this apartment cannot manufacture. The ILE takes in Si and Fe gratefully but can't generate either, and the LII is no better at it. So the cups pile up, dinner gets remembered at nine, and each vaguely blames the other for the chill.
- For the LII, logic is the point. The ILE treats it as a tool, bending definitions to fit whatever scheme is currently running. When the LII catches this, the correction is accurate. It still lands as an accusation of bad faith — which it partly is.
- A plan settled Thursday gets reopened Saturday morning. New information reached the ILE overnight, and base Ne can't leave it alone. The LII, who closed the question by proper procedure, takes the reopening as vandalism and defends the dead plan on principle.
- A quarrel about a definition can outlast the drive home. Neither will be the first to perform warmth, since both consume Fe rather than produce it. So the silence in the car gets wielded as evidence until somebody gives up and changes the subject.
