LSI and IEE: conflict
LSI and IEE press on each other's sorest seat without meaning to. Conflict is the hardest of the sixteen: what IEE and LSI each do most naturally is what the other can least afford to hear. The compatibility does not improve with closeness — this is the one relation that gets worse.
Hardest. Don't force it. Your lead function presses squarely on their sorest spot, and theirs on yours. Intriguing from a distance. Up close, it wears you both down.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- The LSI's household runs on schedule: bills automated, tools labeled, tires rotated on time. The IEE's own follow-through is weather. They borrow the LSI's order the way you'd borrow a stern uncle: sparingly, and gratefully.
- The IEE shows up at the LSI's carefully planned dinner with a stranger — who turns out to be exactly the contact the LSI's project needed. Nobody can reproduce the Ne stunt, or explain it. But it worked.
- With the contractor who's been stringing the IEE along for a month, the LSI's creative Se holds the line. Watching the man fold in one conversation is, for the IEE, an education worth the discomfort.
- It's the IEE's creative Fi that tells the LSI which new hire is loyal and which one is performing. Reading people is careful role work for the LSI. The borrowed verdicts usually turn out right.
- As neighbors, in fair weather, each is the other's best anecdote. The ST discipline and the NF menagerie admire each other across the fence. The fence is the correct distance.
Where it grinds
- The IEE thinks out loud in possibilities: maybe Portugal, maybe graduate school, maybe goats. The LSI's vulnerable Ne registers each one as a threat to the standing plan, and answers them all. It exhausts both of them.
- The LSI asks for exact definitions: what precisely do you mean by soon. Ti is the IEE's vulnerable slot, so the question reads as a trap being set in slow motion. The answers only get vaguer.
- Enforcement is the LSI's craft, and it lands squarely on the IEE's role slot: the raised eyebrow at 9:04, the checklist on the fridge. The IEE complies in short, brittle bursts. Then they leave town for a conference.
- Meanwhile the IEE keeps enlarging the circle: another friend in crisis, another cause adopted at the kitchen table. For the LSI, warmth on demand is role work, performed correctly and briefly. The IEE can feel the ceiling.
- A trip itinerary is the whole war in one document. The LSI books nonrefundable rooms months out. The IEE treats the booking as one option among several still alive. Every revision costs the LSI sleep, and every refusal costs the IEE air.
