LSI ↔ LIE

LSI and LIE: mirage

LSI and LIE rest well together and work badly together. Mirage tops up what each of them wants to be better at while their lead functions talk past each other, which is why LIE and LSI agree about a vacation and stall on a plan. Read the compatibility as domestic, not joint-venture.

Easy to rest with. Hard to work with. Each of you casually covers what the other aspires to, while your lead functions talk past each other. Great for vacations. Famously bad for businesses.

§2 In practice

Where it clicks

  1. The LSI gets the contractor to redo the tiles by standing there until it happens. Creative Se holding the line like that lands on the LIE's mobilizing slot, and the LIE finds the enforcement bracing, not rude.
  2. The LIE brings the forecast home — where the market, the district, or the whole industry is going over the next three years. That's creative Ni landing on the LSI's mobilizing slot, and the LSI has turned it into a schedule by Friday.
  3. As logical types, they treat a disagreement as a matter to settle, not an atmosphere to survive. The argument ends when the point is conceded, and dinner proceeds normally.
  4. Se and Ni get valued on both sides here, beta and gamma alike. Each respects force. Each respects timing. Neither of them thinks let's see how we feel counts as a plan.
  5. The LSI's demonstrative Si quietly maintains everything the LIE's vulnerable Si neglects. The car gets serviced and meals happen on time. The LIE who forgets lunch in the middle of a deal gets fed anyway, without ever asking.

Where it grinds

  1. Correct procedure, numbered clauses, the operations manual. The LSI's base Ti pours all of it into the LIE's ignoring slot, where capacity is full and interest is zero. The LIE cuts a corner that works, and the LSI logs the violation.
  2. The LIE's base Te hits the same wall going the other way. It made money isn't, to the LSI, an argument — a profitable improvisation that breaks the scheme is still wrong. The LIE cites results. The LSI cites the system right back.
  3. Thinking out loud, the LIE runs scenarios in pure demonstrative Ne — three ventures, two pivots, one moonshot. But Ne is the LSI's vulnerable slot, so the brainstorm registers as a threat to everything currently holding together. Every whiteboard session leaves tension behind.
  4. Going into business together is the textbook failure. The LSI builds the manual. The LIE renegotiates the supplier terms mid-quarter and never mentions it. Within a year, each has privately classified the other as the operational risk.
  5. Nobody staffs the relationship channel. Fe is a short performance for the LIE, and Fi is one for the LSI. They administer grievances instead of airing them, and a cold week can pass before either one names what it's actually about.
