LSI and LSE: extinguishment
LSI and LSE care about the same things from opposite directions. Extinguishment pairs identical elements with every attitude flipped, so LSE and LSI agree in principle and undo each other in execution. The compatibility works in small, spaced doses and not much beyond them.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- Renovations go smoothly because both of them already have the paperwork written in their heads. The LSI drafts the correct procedure from base Ti; the LSE prices and schedules it from base Te. The job has a spec and a deadline before lunch.
- The LSE engineers comfort into the workshop through creative Si, and the LSI maintains it from the demonstrative slot without a word. Tools go back to their outlines. Nobody has ever once discussed the outlines.
- Between them, enforcement is fully staffed. When the contractor starts sliding, the LSI applies method through creative Se. The LSE applies sheer weight from demonstrative Se, usually just by standing there. The contractor can't tell which of them to fear more.
- Feelings never get processed on the job, which is how both of them prefer it. Each notices, approvingly, that the other doesn't require it. A whole renovation can pass between them amicably in imperatives and part numbers.
- To both of them, quality is a physical fact, not an opinion. Inspection day is the best day of the friendship: two people running their hands over the same joint, agreeing it's true.
Where it grinds
- In an expansive mood, the LSE floats trying the new supplier — mobilizing Ne stretching its legs. But open options sit in the LSI's vulnerable slot, so the suggestion registers as an attack on the standing order. The new supplier never comes up again.
- The LSI asks where the shop will be in five years — mobilizing Ni, hoping to get the fog cleared. That far-future fog is exactly what wears the LSE down. So the answer comes back as this quarter's numbers, and both of them leave the meeting shortchanged.
- The LSI cites the regulation as the reason. The LSE, whose Ti is strong but deliberately shelved, replies that the regulation is stupid and demonstrates the workaround that saves an hour. Doing it in front of the crew spends a month of the LSI's authority.
- The LSE's throughput figures run into the LSI's backgrounded Te and lose. The LSI redoes the shortcut at night — correctly, off the clock — and says nothing. In the morning, the LSE finds the rework and reads it as insubordination filed under craftsmanship.
- At the retirement dinner, each feeds the other from a slot that runs empty in twenty minutes. The LSE performs warmth by the book — role Fe — for the LSI's Fe appetite. The LSI performs propriety — role Fi — for the LSE's Fi hunger. The evening runs on rations.
