SLI and ESE: supervision (ESE supervises SLI)
SLI and ESE are not on level ground: ESE leads with the element SLI is weakest at, and presses on it without effort or intent. Supervision has a direction, so ESE and SLI live in the same relation differently — one feels watched, the other feels interested. The compatibility is asymmetric.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- On mattresses, produce, and room temperature, they just agree. The ESE's creative Si meets the SLI's base Si at the same household standard, and nobody has to negotiate a thing.
- The SLI fixes the gate, and the ESE tells the whole block about it. The SLI would never advertise, and privately doesn't mind having a press office — as long as no speech is required in return.
- The bills, the furnace contract, and the appliance research all migrate to the SLI's creative Te. The ESE, who only performs efficiency at role level, hands over the spreadsheet with visible relief.
- Novelty suits them in small doses, the ESE mobilizing Ne and the SLI receiving it: a new recipe, an unfamiliar trail, one new stand at the market. Low-stakes variety works for both.
- A sick household is where they're at their best. The SLI supplies quiet physical competence; the ESE supplies active warmth and steady attendance. Nobody keeps score of who did what.
Where it grinds
- At my mother's table, at least look pleased: the request comes straight from the ESE's base Fe and lands on the SLI's vulnerable slot. The SLI produces a wooden approximation of pleased. The ESE reads it as sabotage, and the SLI files the evening under expensive.
- Birthday circles, toasts, and feelings check-ins are things the SLI attends the way you attend weather. The missing response drains the ESE, who doubles the wattage, which is exactly the wrong direction.
- They pay each other in currencies that don't convert. The ESE wants enthusiasm declared out loud, Fe against Te. The SLI offers usefulness demonstrated in silence. Each receives the other's payment and files it under decoration.
- The SLI's Te arrives blunt: that cost too much, the returns are down. It hits the ESE's role Te like an audit. The ESE answers in mood, which lands on the SLI's vulnerable Fe. Neither of them was aiming.
- Under one roof the ESE's Fe never switches off: singing in the kitchen, narrating feelings in real time. The SLI's silence becomes a problem to solve loudly, which produces a longer silence.
