SLI and ILE get duality's opening without its follow-through. Semi-duality covers the lead functions exactly and leaves the support functions crossed, so help between ILE and SLI arrives in the wrong shape at the worst moment. The compatibility is real, and it plateaus below what the first week promised.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- The ILE shows up with nine ideas for the garage — a supply the SLI's suggestive Ne has spent years hoping for. The SLI picks one and builds it. The other eight turn into winter conversation.
- The chair stops creaking, the coffee comes out right, and the jacket is mended before the ILE ever reports the tear. The ILE's suggestive Si takes it all in without ceremony — exactly how the SLI prefers to give it.
- Neither of them runs the household by command. The SLI ignores Se on principle, and the ILE only performs it briefly at work. So at home nothing is enforced, and the essentials somehow still happen.
- A shared Ne-Si weekend needs no itinerary: some tinkering, one errand, an unplanned detour, food at odd hours. They both count that as a full schedule, and they'll defend it to their more organized relatives.
- One sentence is usually all the explanation anyone needs here. The SLI states the practical fact in dry Te, and the ILE's demonstrative Te catches it mid-air. Nothing gets dumbed down in either direction, which both privately file under luxury.
Where it grinds
- When the ILE flounders on a deadline, the SLI's creative Te offers a workflow fix. The ILE's demonstrative Te had already considered that and dropped it. What the ILE actually wanted was someone to make the week feel less grim — a mobilizing-Fe request the SLI can't hear.
- An SLI in a bad patch gets the ILE's clean Ti diagram of the problem. The SLI could draw that diagram in their sleep. The real need was a plain word of personal loyalty, which the ILE's vulnerable Fi can't produce on demand.
- The SLI quietly writes certain people off while the ILE keeps inviting them over. The verdicts sit in Fi, exactly where the ILE can't see. So the only way the ILE learns which friends are banned is the temperature of the room.
- During an illness, the SLI nurses the ILE with flawless logistics and total silence. The ILE, running on mobilizing Fe, takes the silence for distance and tries to cheer up the nurse. The SLI finds that exhausting.
- The ILE argues positions for sport — classic alpha Ti-Fe recreation. The SLI spends words only where they'll change something, and either walks out mid-debate or answers the position literally. Both leave convinced the other one missed the point.
