§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- Two Si bases never need to confer. The chair goes where the light is, dinner happens when someone's hungry, and nobody schedules fun. Visitors call the household telepathic. It's just two people with the same leading sensor.
- One comes home wrung out and the other has it handled before a word is said, whichever way around it goes. The SEI reads the state off the face at the door. The SLI has already moved dinner up and killed the evening's plans. Neither makes a production of it, which both consider the point.
- The party empties at ten and nobody argued about it. Se sits in both ignoring slots, so plans change without a fight — one wants to leave early, and suddenly they're both in the coat room. No ultimatum, ever.
- Both keep Ne in the suggestive slot, so a third party with a wild idea delights the whole house. As a team they host one interesting guest well, splitting the feeding, the prompting, and the listening.
- The chores split along club lines, and nobody has to negotiate it. The SLI (ST) maintains the machines and the accounts; the SEI (SF) maintains the atmosphere and the guest list. Each finds the other's half faintly mysterious and gladly leaves it alone.
Where it grinds
- What did that cost, and what does it do that the old one didn't? The SLI asks from creative Te, as ordinary diligence. The question lands on the SEI's vulnerable spot as an audit, and the SEI goes quiet for the rest of the evening.
- The injury runs the other way on birthdays. The SEI's creative Fe stages a visible occasion, response expected on cue and in front of people. Performing feeling is the SLI's sore spot, so the toneless thank-you registers across the room. Both remember it longer than the gift.
- Ni sits at the role slot on each side, so they manage the future in short, dutiful performances. Retirement, the lease, the aging car — each topic gets one conversation a year, then mutual relief when it ends.
- Nobody volunteers for conflict with outsiders. The neighbor's dog, the botched delivery, the overcharge — each waits, mildly uncomfortable, for the other to be the firm one, and the matter quietly expires unresolved.
- Comfort itself turns out to be the contested ground. The SLI's version is a silent workshop; the SEI's has music and company in it. They share base Si and hold two competing definitions of a good Saturday, which surfaces around month three.
