EIE and SLI: conflict
EIE and SLI press on each other's sorest seat without meaning to. Conflict is the hardest of the sixteen: what SLI and EIE each do most naturally is what the other can least afford to hear. The compatibility does not improve with closeness — this is the one relation that gets worse.
Hardest. Don't force it. Your lead function presses squarely on their sorest spot, and theirs on yours. Intriguing from a distance. Up close, it wears you both down.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- In one silent Saturday the SLI repairs the gutter, the laptop, and the squeaking door. The EIE routinely skips meals for the mission. For a moment they're maintained like a cathedral, and they notice.
- The EIE delivers the eulogy that has the whole room weeping in unison. The SLI can't feel anything on cue. They're impressed the way you're impressed by a controlled demolition: from a distance, and once.
- When the EIE unveils a grand plan, the SLI's creative Te trims it to what the tools and the budget will actually allow. Delivered once, with no ceremony, the trim spares the EIE a public failure. The EIE won't say so, but they know it.
- The EIE's sense of where events are heading gives the SLI a longer sightline than the workshop window offers. Taken in small doses, that Ni forecast is useful in practice: it times a sale, or a move.
- Give them a shared project with a wall between their duties and it works: the EIE recruits and inspires, the SLI builds and finishes. The audience never learns that the two barely speak. Both consider that arrangement ideal.
Where it grinds
- The EIE needs the whole room to feel it together, right now. The SLI's vulnerable Fe can't produce the display. The blank face at the anniversary toast becomes one more exhibit in a case the EIE keeps building.
- The SLI's version of care is maintenance: the chair fixed, the tea made, the thermostat set. These attentions to the body land on the EIE's vulnerable Si. Next to the cause they register as trivial, and they go unthanked.
- Twice now the retreat has lost money, and the SLI says so in plain, unadorned Te. The EIE hears the arithmetic as an attack on what the retreat means. They answer with a speech where a number was requested.
- Prophecy is the EIE's instrument, and they play it daily: where this is heading, what it will all mean. The SLI can hold a horizon briefly, as role work. Then they go out to the garage, which is now.
- Nothing exposes the clash like illness. The SLI treats a sick EIE with soup, silence, and drawn curtains. The EIE wants witness and drama. To each, the other's sickbed manner looks like neglect.
