EIE and IEE: quasi-identity
EIE and IEE share topics and cannot share methods. Quasi-identity keeps the vocabulary familiar and the meanings shifted, so work handed between IEE and EIE has to be redone rather than continued. The compatibility is conversational; it does not survive a deadline.

§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- They never tire of talking about people. A mutual acquaintance can get examined for two hours from different angles — the EIE reads the arc of the life, the IEE reads the oddity. Both call it time well spent.
- They spot talent in stereo. The EIE sees who could move a crowd. The IEE's base Ne sees the strange thing that makes a person worth knowing in the first place. Few gifted strangers get past the two of them unnoticed.
- At a party they divide the work naturally. The EIE stages the toast and the singing. The IEE circulates, quietly pairing people off — creative Fi working the corners. Neither one covets the other's post.
- Flaking gets forgiven on the spot. A canceled plan is met with relief about as often as disappointment, since each of them keeps three other threads running. Neither keeps the score a stricter type would keep.
- The IEE's jokes always land here. The EIE's demonstrative Ne catches every absurd riff and hands it back improved. For an hour the two of them build nonsense at a pace nobody else in the room can follow.
Where it grinds
- Every time the EIE escalates a moment toward meaning, the IEE's demonstrative Fe deflates it with a well-placed joke. So the memorial toast picks up a punchline. The EIE doesn't forgive the timing for weeks.
- Talk of destiny goes nowhere between them. The EIE's creative Ni frames this year as the turning point. The IEE's ignoring Ni shrugs — the moment will come when it comes. To the EIE, that shrug throws away the whole plot.
- The housekeeping has no owner. The EIE's vulnerable Si forgets to eat when the cause heats up. The IEE's suggestive Si quietly waits to be looked after. The kitchen becomes a museum of good intentions.
- The EIE recruits for the cause and expects a side to be taken. The IEE's creative Fi finds someone worthwhile in every camp, so the IEE declines to have enemies at all. The EIE reads that neutrality as desertion.
- Asked to define their terms, the IEE flounders. The EIE's suggestive Ti keeps asking anyway — it really is hungry for that clarity. Every request lands on the IEE's vulnerable Ti like a pop quiz. Both leave the argument stupider than they entered it.
