ENFj and INFj: extinguishment

Where it clicks
- They both work in people, just at different magnifications. The ENFj reads the crowd from base Fe; the INFj reads the one person from base Fi. When they hold a case conference about a struggling friend, it covers both the room he's losing and the self he's losing.
- The INFj's ignoring Fe sees through the ENFj's staging without getting swept up in it. It doesn't punish the stagecraft either. That makes the INFj the rarest kind of audience: someone who can't be played and stays seated anyway.
- As the ENFj's creative Ni narrates where the friend's marriage is heading, the INFj's demonstrative Ni quietly confirms the timeline or shifts it by a season. The forecast gets better, and nobody claims authorship.
- When the INFj names what someone could still become, that creative Ne lands in the ENFj's demonstrative slot. Uptake is instant. Within a week, the ENFj has built the person a stage for it.
- Long walks and letters suit them better than shared committees do. At a distance, each can receive the other's readings of people as material instead of rival verdicts.
Where it grinds
- The ENFj warms to a cause and demands the INFj take a side tonight — mobilizing Se enjoying itself. Se is the INFj's vulnerable slot. So the INFj agrees at the table, then unravels for the rest of the week, where the ENFj never looks.
- A regular dinner hour is all the INFj's mobilizing Si asks for — a small appetite, gently held. But upkeep is the ENFj's sore spot. The request lands as an accusation about what the mission is costing, and the hour keeps moving.
- At the funeral, the ENFj builds a communal wave of grief that carries the room. The INFj sits in the corner with the widow. Privately, each concludes the other missed the point of the day.
- Over dinner, the ENFj recruits the whole table into the cause. By dessert, the INFj has quietly told two guests they don't have to sign anything. The room empties. The ENFj feels sabotaged in public; the INFj feels each guest was protected in private.
- The rigor each one wants, the other can only perform. The INFj wants a verdict on the job offer and gets the ENFj's role Te — confident for exactly one question. The ENFj wants one clean rule and gets the INFj's role Ti — correct, but a level too shallow.
