§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- The ILE can untangle a contract clause, or the actual logic of an argument, in three sentences. The EIE drinks it in through a suggestive Ti slot. For someone who persuades for a living, knowing at last why the case holds is a real gift.
- The EIE knows how to raise a crowd, and the ILE's mobilizing Fe wants exactly that. At the ILE's demo night, the EIE warms the room first, and the ILE presents better than they ever do alone.
- Both of them handle Ne at speed — the ILE's base, the EIE's demonstrative — so a brainstorm needs no translation. The EIE keeps pace with every pivot and supplies the dramatic framing.
- Alpha and beta both prize Fe with Ti, so they share a register: loud argument as entertainment, precision as a courtesy. Their dinner guests can't tell the debate from the affection, and honestly, neither can they.
- They split a project the way a researcher and a humanitarian would. The ILE figures out what could work, the EIE decides what it should mean to people, and the conference talk comes together in one evening.
Where it grinds
- Whatever the EIE's creative Ni produces lands in the ILE's ignoring slot. The warnings about timing, about how this ends, get heard technically and shelved deliberately. Six months later, the EIE declines to say I told you so, and declines it audibly.
- Nobody in this house actually holds Si. The EIE keeps it in the vulnerable slot and the ILE in the suggestive one, so both are waiting for someone else to plan meals and rest. At eleven at night, they discover that dinner was only ever a theory.
- Because Ne is base for the ILE and demonstrative for the EIE, the beneficiary already knows the trick. The EIE admires the ILE's tenth idea while privately generating an eleventh they never bother to claim.
- The beta EIE wants escalation and stakes, while the alpha ILE treats every showdown as one more interesting scenario. So the EIE stages a confrontation about the lease, and the ILE takes notes on the staging.
- When the EIE asks for commitment, a date, a decision about the apartment, the ILE hears one option among many. That asymmetry shows itself every year, right around renewal time.
