§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- When the EII is run down, soup just appears. The ESE's creative Si works on the EII's mobilizing slot: keeping the room warm, getting the tea right, noticing the tiredness early. The EII aspires to that kind of competence and is visibly restored by it.
- The EII returns the favor on the Ne channel. Pointing out that the ESE could really take that course is creative work aimed at the ESE's mobilizing slot, and the ESE, once encouraged, actually enrolls. Prospects flow one way, care flows the other.
- Since both are ethical types, consideration runs in both directions and costs nothing. Nobody has to translate a feeling into a business case, and an apology arrives within the hour instead of within the week.
- They split the hosting duties along natural lines. The ESE runs the table, the toasts, and the volume. The EII takes the overwhelmed guest into the kitchen for a real conversation. Between them, the party covers both registers.
- The ESE's dread of open-ended time mostly goes unprovoked here. The EII's Ni is demonstrative and worn lightly, so the long view reads as gentle framing, not a forecast hanging over the kitchen. Nobody makes waiting a topic.
Where it grinds
- All that room-scale cheer gets the polite minimum back. The EII holds Fe in the ignoring slot — strong, deliberately muted — so the ESE's full birthday production plays to a kind smile. The ESE keeps raising the wattage for the one audience member whose channel is off.
- The EII's base Fi meets the same fate in reverse. Those precise private verdicts about who kept their word and who didn't strike the ESE as fussy bookkeeping — about people the ESE would sooner just hug into compliance.
- The paperwork shows what happens when nobody leads Te. The ESE performs efficiency in bursts. The EII quietly hopes somebody will step in with guidance. The account balance is a recurring surprise they take turns discovering.
- A rushed departure brings out the ESE's demonstrative Se — coats on, ten minutes, move. It lands squarely on the EII's vulnerable slot. The EII complies without a word, then is unreachable for the rest of the afternoon.
- Planning a celebration exposes the quadra split. The ESE drafts twenty guests and a rented hall. The EII wanted a walk and one long conversation. Whoever concedes calls it a favor and remembers it as one.
