EII and LSI: super-ego
EII and LSI each do easily what the other performs under pressure. Super-ego relations look complementary from across a room and feel like being graded up close, which is why LSI and EII usually stay polite and stay apart. The compatibility improves with distance, which is rarely the direction people want.

Where it clicks
- Following procedure costs the EII visible effort — their role Ti files the forms correctly and sighs about it. From one desk over, the LSI's effortless certainty about which rule governs the case looks like peace.
- Correct sentiment at funerals and weddings is role Fi work for the LSI, and it's laborious. The EII's unforced sense of what each mourner needs is a competence the LSI ranks with any technical skill.
- Auditing a mess together, they split the work without discussion: the LSI restores the system, the EII restores the people the system ran over. Both jobs get done to standard.
- Lateness doesn't happen with these two, and neither does forgetting. A loan gets repaid to the day. A confidence stays kept for decades. Each files the other under reliable, which for both of them is the highest shelf.
- At a distance, the EII's readings of people are useful intelligence: which nephew is struggling, which colleague is about to quit. The LSI checks the predictions against events and quietly upgrades the source's rating.
Where it grinds
- The LSI enforces on contact: the voice drops, the order gets issued, the deadline is now. The EII complies at once and completely, then relives the moment for a week. The LSI reads the compliance as agreement and the week as nothing.
- The EII opens doors on principle: maybe he'll change, maybe there's a third way. To the LSI's vulnerable Ne, every open door is a breach in the perimeter. They close each one with more force than the door required.
- In close quarters, the EII's fine ethical readings become a standing exam. The LSI keeps behaving correctly and keeps getting asked 'but how did it feel' — a question they regard as outside the syllabus.
- Their home fills up with regulations: shoes go here, receipts get filed, dishes are done by ten. The EII observes each rule the way a guest observes local customs. The effort shows, and the LSI reads it, correctly, as reluctance.
- Loyalty means different things at their table. The LSI's version binds to the unit and its discipline. The EII's binds to persons, including the ones the unit expelled. To each, the other's version looks faintly treasonous.
