EII ↔ IEE
EII and IEE: mirror
EII and IEE run the same two functions in the opposite order. Mirror relations mean shared subject matter and reversed seriousness: IEE and EII keep editing each other's emphasis, and the work usually improves. The compatibility is collegial — high on understanding, low on rest.
Same work, opposite order. Your base and creative functions are swapped. Same interests, reversed seriousness — each of you treats as craft what the other treats as calling.

§1 Mirror relations — how the stacks collide
| element | in EII | in IEE | what happens |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fi | base (1) | creative (2) | EII lives here; IEE visits, skillfully |
| Ne | creative (2) | base (1) | IEE lives where EII improvises |
| Ti | role (3) | vulnerable (4) | EII's chore lands on IEE's bruise |
| Se | vulnerable (4) | role (3) | EII's bruise, IEE's chore — mutual flinching |
| Te | suggestive (5) | mobilizing (6) | both want it; neither has it |
| Si | mobilizing (6) | suggestive (5) | both want it; neither has it |
| Fe | ignoring (7) | demonstrative (8) | strong meets strong; neither shows it off |
| Ni | demonstrative (8) | ignoring (7) | neither values it; both have it |
slots, in one line: base & creative = native strengths · role = performed on demand · vulnerable = the sore spot · suggestive & mobilizing = what's wanted from others · ignoring & demonstrative = strong but not valued.
§2 In practice
Where it clicks
- Their dinner-party debriefs agree to the decimal. The IEE spotted the interesting stranger inside ten minutes, base Ne scanning the room. The EII had confirmed the character by dessert, base Fi running its quieter checks. The two reports rarely differ, and never about anything important.
- A friend's late career change gets taken seriously in this house. Both of them read people by what they could become, so neither mocks the forty-year-old starting over. The only difference is that the IEE says it louder.
- The IEE's demonstrative Fe warms rooms the EII can't, taking over the host's job without being asked. Meanwhile the EII's demonstrative Ni quietly tracks which of the IEE's enthusiasms actually has a future. Somehow the doomed ones end up with less logistical support.
- Apologies come fast and they hold. Both track intention over outcome, so a bad day gets distinguished from a bad character with no discussion needed. Grudges find no soil here — visitors from harder households notice it within an evening.
- Candidates arrive via the IEE — people, causes, openings — faster than the EII would ever find them alone. The EII returns each one weighed: this friendship is real, that opportunity is vanity. The IEE discards accordingly, calls it their own judgment, and the EII permits this.
Where it grinds
- Define what you actually mean, even asked mildly, is still an exam. The EII's role-Ti requests for consistency land on the IEE's vulnerable Ti, and the IEE's definitions really do change with the audience. Getting caught at it feels like handcuffs.
- The IEE's bursts of urgency cost more than they win. Call them today, grab it now — pushed from role Se, it lands on the EII's vulnerable Se as plain force. The EII complies in the moment, then goes quiet for two days.
- The taxes are late and the water heater has never been serviced. Both are waiting for practical rescue, since Te and Si arrive from outside if they arrive at all. Each privately resents ending up as the one who has to play the adult. The resentment never gets itemized.
- Each files one standing complaint. The IEE finds the EII's possibilities pre-filtered — every option cleared with conscience before it's allowed to be fun. The EII finds the IEE's attachments portable — announced widely, revised often. Each critique gets delivered once a year and remembered for twelve months.
- The birthday guest list is an annual negotiation. The EII wants six people who matter; the IEE wants forty who might. One finds the other's circle airless, the other finds it diluted. The compromise of eighteen satisfies nobody.
